Norwegian trio Famlende Forsok are Brt, Chrisph and Lumpy Davy
(guitarist/singer of The Smell of Incense). The band's original
inspiration, when formed in the early 80's, came from the industrial
musical scene (Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, John Cooper Clarke). FF
material can be found on numerous samplers, mostly cassettes; most critics
claim that FF reached a peak with their first vinyl LP Ars Transmutatoria"
in 1990. A major influence that has haunted the career of FF from the early
stages is the master of supernatural literature H.P. Lovecraft. There was
never much doubt: one day great Chtulhu would awake to release his horror
upon the world! And here it is: "A Tribute to H.P. Lovecraft (1890 - 1937)"
All lyrics but one are excerpts from stories by H.P. Lovecraft, narrated by
Brt. The narrative passages are embedded in corresponding soundscapes.
Instrumentation used ranges from synths, mellotron, horns, electric guitar,
flute, electric violin, viola to congas a.m.. Archaic, gothic, tribalistic
sounds, augmented with elements of progressive/space rock transport the
listener into the realm of Lovecraft's imagination, revealing both the
horror and the beauty of the mysterium.
Guest musicians: Brian Voth, Bumble B (TSOI), Cool Kat (TSOI), Robert Menne
(Dove Munker).
